Emergency
system
available
in
Linden
Since December 1983, the city
has
administered
the
Linden Emergency
Response System Program
for
resi-
dents
who are
elderly, physically
handicapped, medically disabled
and
socially isolated.
More than 300 Linden recipients
to
date have taken advantage
of
the
24-hour monitoring service.
It
pre-
sently serves approximately
150
area
residents.
The LERS unit
is an
easy-to-use
wireless transmitter which becomes
a
24-hour companion
and
a
direct link
to safeguarding one's health and safe-
ty, according
to
program organizers.
One press
of
the button
is
all
it
takes
to notify
the
central station that
an
emergency condition exists.
Within minutes,
an
ambulance
and
emergency personnel are
at
the scene.
Besides having
the
transmitter
and
nergency help immediately, the sub-
CI
scriber*s medical profile
is
kept
on
file and
is at
the disposal
of
emergen-
cy personnel.
The city
has
purchased
the
emergency units
for
subscribers.
The
subscriber pays
a
monthly
$12
moni-
toring
fee
and charges
for
the installa-
tion
of
the
unit
The Emergency Response System
is administered through
the
Under
Recreation* Department
Anyone with
a
friend, neighbor
or
relative
in
Linden
who
could benefit
from having bis or her own LERS tmr
should contact
the
